Meet the Fuegian lakes in the heart of Tierra del Fuego
The excursion begins in the city of Ushuaia to later go northeast along National Route 3, towards the mountain peaks of Mounts Olivia and Cinco Hermanos. This is an amazing opportunity to enjoy landscapes and nature at its purest.
Deeper into Carabajal Valley, we will see glaciers, suspended valleys and exploitable peats everywhere. We go on and visit Valle de Lobos Winter Center, a breeding center for dog sleds, Siberian Huskies and Alaskan Huskies. We’ll be able to interact with the animals, take pictures and know more about their daily care and activities during winter.
Afterwards, we’ll enjoy the great landscapes across peat valleys, waterfalls, and beavers’ dams and dreamed glaciers. We’ll be experiencing the authentic sub Antarctic forest. We’ll also observe cross-country skiing centers. Cerro Castor is internationally known and has the best snow in the country.
We continue our journey with direction to Rancho Hambre. From this point, we will start going up to Garibaldi Crossing through a winding, tough road, surrounded by forests filled with leech trees.
Once in Garibaldi’s highest viewpoint, we’ll take some time to take pictures and enjoy the panoramic views of Escondido, Fagnano lakes unforgettable scenery.
Finally, we start our return to Ushuaia and through the Winter Centers where we’ll stop to have lunch to taste the typical dishes, enjoy the free time and practice winter sports. Finally, we arrive in Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world.
